Barn Owl
Western White Alabaster
11x11x15"
The bird stretches one wing out
as he wakes for his night flight.
When I lived in Florida a barn owl lived in my neighbors palm
tree.
By day, you could see his moon shaped face asleep in the top of
the tree
and by night hear his piercing screech. He kept us all safe from
those
big citus rats and did it with such grace. I love the curving
almost abstract
shape of their faces. The beautiful subtle veins and spots in
various shades
of white add depth to this piece without taking away from its
strong gesture.
