Daphne borrows elements from Greek and modern art. . I used a chain saw to carve the flowing skirt giving the shift in hips a more contemporary edge. This wonderful black and white alabaster worked perfectly to mesh the stone and wood together with repeating lines and fluid movement. I loved the rough edges in contrast to the polished front and back. The ruin quality of the torso made it a necessity to put her on a pedestal. She is a goddess.
